Third Steering Committee Meeting of the Project: "Building a Rule of Law Society"

Within the framework of Baladi Cap’s Civic Engagement Initiative (CEI), the Lebanese Foundation for Permanent Civil Peace (LFPCP) conducted its third steering committee meeting on December 6, 2017 at the Lebanese parliament meeting room to discuss with the project partners and stakeholders the steps that were achieved so far, and to agree on the coming phase.

The meeting was spearheaded by Deputy Yassine Jaber MP Chair of the Parliamentary Committee in charge of following up on the implementation of laws, and with participation of, MP Nabil de Freige, MP KHALED Zahraman, representative Ministry of Economy and Trade; Dr. Antoine Romanous Head of Department at the Ministry of Health, the Baladi Cap project was represented by Dr. Fares El Zein BALADI CAP Chief of Party. Meanwhile the LFPCP team included Dr. Antoine Messarra chairman, Mr. Rabih Kays Project Director, Maribelle Tarabay Project Coordinator.
Also the general director of LIBNOR Mr. Lana Dargham participated in the meeting, and Representative from IRI Dr. Imad Hajj Chehade, Project experts and Mr. Said Issa from the civil society organizations. 

The main discussions throughout the meeting were on success of the workshop on metrology that took place since one week before, and to proceed in the drafting process of the implementing decrees of the three identified laws which are: The Law of Protection of Confidential DNA Information for Lebanese Citizens, Food Safety Law, and The Law of Measurement and Scaling System in Lebanon.

The project “Building a rule of law society: to enhance bases of Democratic Governance and Rule of law” is aimed at advocating for the issuance of government decrees to implement three key laws already passed by Parliament.
